Designer: Charlie Brown
Show: Solo Show
Iconic Australian fashion designer Charlie Brown, known for her elegant cocktail dresses, evening dresses and bridal wear, will be showing for the first time at New Zealand Fashion Week 2012. Charlie is the only internationally based designer to be showing and her collection is sure to be one of the most memorable.
Charlie Brown has a reputation for being clever, creative and bold. The label has become synonymous for featuring high profile supermodels and international talent including Linda Evangelista, Helena Christiansen, Sophie Dahl, Jerry Hall, Jodie Kidd, Jade Jagger and Lily Cole.
Charlie’s designs are known for their sexy playfulness along with their beautiful construction and tailoring. The inspiration for Charlie’s New Zealand Fashion Week show has come from Charlie’s love for bold pops of colour and subdued neutrals. It was these two points of difference that the theme of Charlie Brown's collection was inspired: Naughty and Nice.
The collection plays with colours that truly pop this season - Midnight and Pacific Blue, Hot Magenta, Violet and Mountain Meadow Teal. The Charlie Brown girl balances these out with an array of reliable, but luxurious neutrals in order to stand out from the fashion pack.
A major force in the fashion market, Charlie Brown has a freestanding boutique in New Market, Auckland and concession stores in both Auckland and Wellington, along with boutiques throughout Australia.
Now, celebrating over fifteen years, the enduring legacy of the Charlie Brown label continues, ‘I enjoy watching people grow within the business and learning how to run a company, it helps you grow as a person’ Charlie says. A major force in the Australian fashion marketplace, opening the first flagship store on Oxford Street, Paddington in 2000, Charlie Brown now has six self-titled stores in Australia, and sells strongly in Myer department stores nationally, luxury boutiques nationwide and internationally with two self titled stores recently opened in New Zealand.
