Schimmel's parents instilled an appreciation of the arts and the isolation fostered her creative imagination.
The beauty of fashion, the technical complexities of clothing construction, and the artistry involved in creating haute couture required her to dedicated study in Germany. For many years Anna trained and worked for European couture designers, and completed her Master's Degree at the German Master School of Fashion, one of the best schools in Europe.
Following graduation she added new dimensions to my skills; Pattern Maker for Peter Keppler, a high profile fashion house, succeeded by Costume Master for the National Theatre Thuringen. All of which culminated in fifteen years of creating haute couture, high fashion and theatrical costuming.
Anna had holidayed in New Zealand and liked the landscape, lifestyle and people. Consequently she moved here, initially working as a freelance pattern maker for top fashion designers - Karen Walker, Liz Mitchell and Trelise Cooper.
In 2002 she designed her first bridal collection and established her atelier. Many collections later, 'Anna Schimmel' is known for its outstanding gowns." I love working with brides-to-be and creating beautiful wedding gowns for my brides to treasure. "
